Notarization for Signers Who Need Extra Patience
Many nursing home residents sign documents more slowly, may have difficulty hearing or seeing clearly, or simply need more time to feel comfortable. We never rush an appointment — every signer deserves to feel respected and unhurried.
Florida notaries are required to reasonably confirm that a signer appears to understand the document they are signing and is acting voluntarily at the time of the appointment. If there is a known concern about a resident's capacity, we recommend planning ahead with the facility's care team or an elder law attorney before scheduling.
If a resident is physically unable to sign their name, Florida law allows them to make a mark in the presence of the Notary and two witnesses — let us know in advance so we can help coordinate.

My elderly parent is in a nursing home — how do I get their documents notarized?
You do not need to transport your parent anywhere. Contact us with your parent's name, the facility name and room/unit, and the documents involved, and we'll schedule a mobile notary visit directly at the facility. We coordinate with staff and work around your parent's schedule and comfort level, so nothing feels rushed.
Will a notary actually come to a nursing home?
Yes. This is one of the most common services we provide. We regularly visit nursing homes, skilled nursing facilities, and assisted living communities throughout Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Hernando, Manatee, and Sarasota counties.
Is there a fee for a nursing home notary visit?
Florida law caps the notary fee at $10 per notarial act (generally, one signature notarized on one document) — not a flat fee for the whole visit. If multiple documents or signatures need to be notarized, each one counts as a separate act. A travel fee also applies for facility visits, based on distance.
